Shalakya Tantra Care

Shalakya Tantra

(eye, ear, nose, mouth, throat and head)

Shalakya Tantra is the study of the ears, eyes, nose, mouth, throat and head.  Ayurveda considers the head as the center of senses.  Impressions enter through the sense organs to be stored in the heart.  As a result, the care of the head (mind, consciousness and senses) and the heart are all connected.

According to Ayurveda, the causes of head diseases are generally related to major lifestyle imbalances as well as accumulation of ama (from toxins, pathogens).  The main tissue affected in diseases of the head is the rakta (blood- circulatory system) and symptoms may develop in eyes, ears, nose, mouth, throat and head.

The ayurvedic approach combines a range of topical and systemic treatments with beneficial neuroprotective herbs, shirodhara and marma therapies as well as a balanced lifestyle harmonized with the individual prakruti (constitution).
